| A personal note from Andy Chidwick:
It is my goal as an individual and as a business to be able to support the less fortunate here at home and around the world in every way possible. My wife and I have each had the opportunity to travel extensively in the United States as well as to third world nations and witness true poverty--of the body, of the mind, and tragically, of the soul. It would be irresponsible of us to now ignore these needs, having seen them first hand. Our family has chosen a very simple lifestyle, without a fancy home or new cars, as a practical way to be able to share with those in need. |

With this in mind, we have intentionally priced our chairs competitively, compared to other custom rocking chair makers. An original Sam Maloof chair can easily go for $22,000, and a chair from someone like myself, who admires Mr. Maloof and strives to make chairs that are similar in philosophy and comfort level, generally sells for between $3,500 and $10,000. When you purchase a Chidwick Chair, however, a full ten percent of the purchase price is given as a direct donation to a responsible charity or research organization. If you would like to choose which charity your particular custom chair supports, please scroll down for a list of available charities, and note your choice at the time of your order. |

Relief Organizations: Compassion International is a well-respected child-sponsorship organization, providing resources and hope to children and their communities world-wide. The Chidwicks sponsor a young girl from Guatemala named Leandra. World Vision is a humanitarian relief organization serving the world's poorest children and families in nearly 100 countries. We are impressed with their programs and last year donated a chair to be auctioned off at one of their fundraising events. The Red Cross provides emergency food, clothing and shelter to victims of disaster, bringing hope and help in times of need. In addition, their blood donation program saves innumerable lives. Chirstian Ministries: Young Life is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian organization reaching out to teens with programs in some 450 communities in the United States and Canada and 36 countries overseas for 55 years. Andy volunteers with Young Life each week. Wycliffe Bible Translators is seeking to make the Bible available to every language group in the world by the year 2025. There are nearly 380 million people remaining who do not have a Bible in their language. Sherry Chidwick (Andy's wife) had the privilege of teaching at a school run by Wycliffe in the country of Papua New Guinea. Education: Biola University, in La Mirada, California, is a highly acclaimed Christian University, founded in 1908, with 145 academic programs in six different schools. Sherry Chidwick (Andy's wife) was able to attend there and graduate with honors because of the generous contributions of the Biola Scholarship Fund. The Arts: Missoula Children's Theater is a nationally and even internationally respected traveling theater company that brings the arts to elementary age children worldwide, providing exceptional programs and fun but intensive training. Medical Research: OHSU, Oregon Health Sciences University, is the premier research hospital of the Pacific Northwest. The Chidwicks have witnessed first hand the benefits of the research and cutting-edge technology that OHSU can provide. Doerenbecher Children's Hospital is a state of the art facility providing excellent care for children and their families. Nature and Wildlife Conservation: The National Parks Foundation strives to keep our precious national parks in pristine condition, so that they will be enjoyed for generations to come. The Chidwicks home is situated between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. |
